Business Studies Courses

Sedibeng TVET College offers several diploma programmes in the Business field. These courses are structured in semesters, with specific levels of study from N4 to N6. Admission requirements vary based on your academic background and may include minimum marks in key subjects.

Business Management (N4 – N6)

The Business Management N4 course requires either a Grade 12 pass with at least 30% in Accounting or an NCV Level 4 qualification. To progress to Business Management N5 and N6, students must successfully complete the previous level (N4 or N5).

Hospitality and Catering (N4 – N6)

For admission to Hospitality and Catering N4, students must have a Grade 12 qualification with at least 30% in Business Studies or 40% in Consumer Studies. Alternatively, students can qualify with an NCV Level 4 in Hospitality with a minimum of 40%. To advance to N5 and N6, students must complete the preceding level.

Human Resource Management (N4 – N6)

The Human Resource Management N4 programme is open to students with either a Grade 12 qualification or an NCV Level 4 pass. Progression to N5 and N6 requires completion of each prior level.

Legal Secretary (N4 – N5)

Students interested in the Legal Secretary N4 course need a Grade 12 pass with at least 40% in English. Applicants with an NCV Level 4 qualification are also eligible. The next level, Legal Secretary N5, requires successful completion of N4.

Medical Secretary (N4)

Admission to the Medical Secretary N4 course requires a Grade 12 pass with a minimum of 40% in Life Sciences or Biology. Students with an NCV Level 4 qualification may also apply.

National Certificate: Tourism (N4 – N6)

For the Tourism N4 programme, students need a Grade 12 pass with a minimum of 50% in Tourism or an NCV Level 4 with at least 30% in Tourism. Advancement to N5 and N6 is contingent on completion of the previous level.

Engineering Studies Courses

Engineering Studies at Sedibeng TVET College are offered on a trimester basis, enabling students to complete courses faster than in a semester system. Admission is based on specific grade and subject requirements for each level.

Engineering (N1 – N6)

To enroll in Engineering N1, students must have completed Grade 12 with at least 30% in Mathematics and Science. Engineering N2 is open to students with either a Grade 12 pass or an N1 qualification, maintaining the 30% requirement in Mathematics and Science. Progressing through N3, N4, N5, and N6 requires successful completion of each preceding level. NCV Level 4 students with Mathematics at 30% may also qualify for Engineering programmes starting from N3.

National Certificate Vocational (NCV) Courses

Sedibeng TVET College also offers NCV programmes, structured as annual courses, for students seeking practical and technical skills.

Civil Engineering and Building Construction (Level 2)

The Civil Engineering and Building Construction Level 2 NCV programme is open to students with an ABET Level 4 or Grade 10 pass. Students must have achieved at least 50% in Mathematical Literacy or 30% in Mathematics. This course provides foundational skills for careers in construction and related industries.

Civil Engineering and Building Construction (Level 2 – Level 4)

For entry into Civil Engineering and Building Construction Level 2, students can apply with various academic backgrounds. Grade 9 students need at least 50% in Mathematics and Science, while Grade 10 and Grade 11 students require a minimum of 30% in Mathematics or 50% in Mathematical Literacy. For those advancing to Level 3 and Level 4, completion of the previous NCV level is required.

Electrical Engineering (Level 2 – Level 4)

The Electrical Engineering Level 2 programme is open to students with ABET Level 4 or Grade 10, requiring at least 50% in Mathematical Literacy or 30% in Mathematics. Grade 11 students must have a minimum of 85% in Mathematical Literacy or 30% in Mathematics. Moving to Levels 3 and 4 requires successful completion of the preceding NCV levels.

Engineering and Related Design (Level 2 – Level 4)

Entry into Engineering and Related Design Level 2 is possible with ABET Level 4 or Grade 10 qualifications, where a 50% mark in Mathematical Literacy is needed, or 30% in Mathematics for both Grade 10 and Grade 11 students. Progression to Levels 3 and 4 requires completion of each previous NCV level.

Hospitality (Level 2 – Level 4)

The Hospitality Level 2 programme is accessible to students from ABET Level 4 or Grade 9, where a minimum of 40% in Mathematics is required. Grade 10 and Grade 11 students may apply without specific subject requirements. To advance to Levels 3 and 4, students must complete each previous level in the NCV programme.

Information Technology and Computer Science (Level 2 – Level 4)

For entry into Information Technology and Computer Science Level 2, applicants need ABET Level 4 with a minimum of 50% in Mathematical Literacy. Students with Grade 9 should have 50% in both Mathematics and Science, while Grade 10 and Grade 11 students need either 50% in Mathematical Literacy or 30% in Mathematics. Progression to Levels 3 and 4 requires successful completion of previous NCV levels.

IT Programming and Robotics (Level 2)

The IT Programming and Robotics Level 2 course is suitable for students with ABET Level 4 or Grade 9 qualifications, needing at least 50% in Mathematical Literacy and Science. Grade 10 and Grade 11 students also qualify with either 50% in Mathematical Literacy or 30% in Mathematics.

Management (Level 2)

The Management Level 2 programme at Sedibeng TVET College is accessible for students with ABET Level 4, with no specific subject mark requirements. This foundational course provides essential management skills for students pursuing careers in administrative roles.

Management (NCV Level 2 – Level 4)

The Management NCV programme is structured from Level 2 to Level 4. Entry into Management Level 2 requires students to have either ABET Level 4 or Grade 9 with at least 40% in Mathematics or English. Students from Grade 10 and 11 may also apply without specific subject marks. To advance to Levels 3 and 4, students must complete the preceding NCV levels.

Marketing (NCV Level 2 – Level 4)

The Marketing NCV programme equips students with foundational marketing skills. Admission to Marketing Level 2 is open to students with ABET Level 4, Grade 10, or Grade 11 qualifications. For Grade 9 applicants, a minimum of 40% in Mathematics or 50% in English is required. Progression to Levels 3 and 4 depends on successful completion of previous NCV levels.

Mechatronics (NCV Level 2 – Level 4)

Mechatronics Level 2 requires ABET Level 4 with a minimum of 50% in Mathematical Literacy or Grade 10 with 30% in Mathematics. Grade 9 applicants must have 50% in both Mathematics and Science, while Grade 11 students need 85% in Mathematical Literacy or 30% in Mathematics. Students who advance from Level 2 to Levels 3 and 4 must complete the prior NCV levels.

Office Administration (NCV Level 2 – Level 4)

The Office Administration NCV programme begins at Level 2 and advances to Level 4. Office Administration Level 2 accepts students from ABET Level 4, Grade 10, and Grade 11, while Grade 9 students need a minimum of 40% in Mathematics or 50% in English. To move to Levels 3 and 4, students must complete the preceding level.

Hospitality (NCV Level 2 – Level 4)

Sedibeng TVET College’s Hospitality NCV programme offers practical training in hospitality services. For Hospitality Level 2, students must have completed Grade 9 with at least 50% in English or Mathematics. Students with ABET Level 4, Grade 10, or 11 can also apply without specific marks. Occupational Certificate: Hairdresser (Level 4)

The Occupational Certificate in Hairdressing is a hands-on programme at Level 4, tailored for students interested in a hairdressing career. Entry is open to students from Grade 9 to Grade 12, as well as those with Grade 10 or Grade 11, offering multiple entry points for learners at various academic stages.
